I love when we take day trips.
Not only do we get to go somewhere new and exciting,
but we get to sit on the bus and look out the window.
I can't help but take pictures through the glass while everyone else is napping through the English countryside.
I can't get enough of the cute little sheep.
And the rolling green hills.
The ruins of Glastonbury Abbey were amazing. The Abbey dates back to the early 7th century or earlier but the buildings were progressively destroyed as their stones were removed for use in local building work.
It's now open to the public and we got to run around and explore. We even found a secret wishing well!
We all made wishes of course.
Even better than the ruins was where we got to go next.
Glastonbury Tor is a hill that sits in the middle of Glastonbury.
The view from the top of the hill was our best view yet!
I felt like I could see all of England from that hill.
-The real view of an English countryside-
Next: Stourhead
At first I thought that Stourhead was a lame excuse for not going to Stonehenge.
Boy was I wrong.
The Stourhead Gardens were one of the most beautiful and picturesque places I've ever seen.
Unfortunately, we were running behind schedule
so we had to power walk around the lake and only stop to take a picture for a split second before sprinting to catch up. They told us if we were late to the bus that we would have to find a train station and pay our own way back to the Centre.
Not happening.
So we ran through the gardens, but I snapped some pictures on the way!
It was a bit of a grey day,
but beautiful nonetheless!
Picture this: Piride & Prejudice. Heavy Rain. Mr. Darcy's first proposal to Elizabeth.
Yes.
This is the place.
Stourhead Gardens
Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen filmed that scene right here!!!
Anyways....
On to Bath
These,
are the Roman Baths.
This is very, very, very old water.
And I drank some.
Bleh.
Then we walked around.
The Royal Crescent
The city of Bath
I made friends along the way, too.
All in all it was a great, full, busy day.
