Canterbury and Cambridge

First stop on this field trip was St. Augustine's Abbey.
We were able to walk through the ruins of this abbey that date back to 598 AD!

On the walk from St. Augustine's Abbey we got to walk through the cobblestone streets of Canterbury.

And then we saw this really cute boy playing the guitar and singing in the square.

I have to admit, one of my favorite things about London has been the people playing music in the streets. There are people playing the violin, guitar, harmonica, cello, piano, drums and any other variety of instrument you can think of in the tube stations, on street corners, and everywhere. I always try to walk slow so I can listen for longer.

But anyways...

And then we went to Canterbury Cathedral

But I got distracted and took a picture of this really cute door.

The Cathedral was amazing though. This stained glass is original and dates back to 1160AD

This was the courtyard of the cathedral

The stonework inside the cathedral was breathtaking.

Then it was back on the bus to enjoy the English Countryside.

Two Hours Later we arrived at Cambridge University.
I couldn't believe my eyes. The only campus I've ever really been familiar with is BYU. And BYU is beautiful!  But Cambridge is majestic.
We don't have buildings like this at BYU...

But wait... it gets better.
Shortly after we arrived, we met some students on the street holding signs for punting.
What is punting you may ask?
Well, it's probably the best decision I ever made.... that day. We paid seven pound fifty to go on a guided tour down the River Cam and see and hear about all of the different colleges at Cambridge.
It. was. Beautiful.

It was so beautiful I almost died.
And then we went home.

Phew! That was a marathon post.
I think it took me upwards of 2 hours to do.

PS We're going to Bath tomorrow!

Annnnd here I go, back to my WWI Poetry Paper...
